Drafts
Save private static or Motion compositions and resume their media, fields, branding, preview settings, and output choices later.
Overview
Drafts save the complete state of an in-progress static or Motion composition so you can resume later. Navigate to Showmo > Drafts to view your saved work.
What's Saved in a Draft
A static draft captures:
- Layout selection
- Talent and portfolio selection
- Image slot assignments and repositioning (focal points)
- Field overrides (custom text values)
- Text style overrides (font, color, size, position)
- Background color override
- Output mode (print/web)
- Front and back thumbnail screenshots (captured automatically for visual identification)
A Motion draft captures:
- The complete Motion layout snapshot
- Talent and Media Source Portfolio selection
- Video and image region assignments
- Video Start From values plus image and video focal points and zoom
- Editable field values and available brand color choices
- Agency logo visibility
- silent MP4 and PNG poster delivery
Motion drafts preserve your composition, not a reusable Motion layout. Save Layout remains unavailable because the layout's timing and animation are professionally authored.
Draft Privacy
Drafts are strictly private per user. Other team members — including owners and admins — cannot see, edit, or delete another user's drafts. This privacy applies to both static and Motion compositions.
Saving a Draft
- Make changes in Compose
- Click Save Draft in the top bar
- Enter or confirm the draft name
- Click Save Draft
The dirty state is cleared after saving, so the unsaved work warning will not trigger until you make further changes.
Resuming a Draft
Click any available draft on the Drafts page to reopen its editor. Showmo restores the saved layout, valid media assignments, fields, branding, and output choices. If source media is no longer eligible or available, replace it before creating.
Managing Drafts
Draft Cards
Static draft cards display captured front and back screenshots. Motion draft cards display the layout poster with a Motion badge, duration, video and image counts, and supported outputs. When a draft is updated, its saved state is replaced with the latest composition.
Available Actions
| Action | How |

| Resume | Click the draft card to reopen the editor |
| Rename | Open the draft card's action menu (three dots) and select Rename |
| Delete | Open the draft card's action menu and select Delete — a confirmation dialog appears |
| Search | Type in the search bar at the top of the Drafts page to filter by draft name or layout name |
Bulk Delete
To delete multiple drafts at once:
- Click Select to enter selection mode
- Choose individual drafts, or use Select All and Select None in the fixed action bar
- Click Delete N and confirm to delete the selected drafts
- Click Exit to leave selection mode without deleting
Drafts without a captured thumbnail remain available in selection mode.
